Allegri hails important victory against Siena and looks ahead to Cagliari

Milan kept the pressure on league leaders Juventus to win their match with Siena at the San Siro on Saturday night.
The game turned out to be more difficult than it would have appeared before kick-off but it was the first obstacle overcome in the last three days of competition leading up to Serie A’s Christmas break.
Milan’s coach, Massimiliano Allegri, told Sky Italia: “We knew that this could be a difficult game, because Siena is a team that aren’t easily overcome. We were playing well but, after a while, we seemed a little jaded, there was too much playing as individuals [rather than a team], the pitch didn’t make things easier, we were in danger of going under. Once we got going again, the second half was all downhill.”
Allegri referred to Milan’s up-coming midweek game away at Cagliari: “We need to wait until [the game at] Cagliari to see if we can take another three points that are important to us now. Tonight hasn’t been easy, it was important to win, perhaps it wasn’t a pretty game, but during a season you can’t pretend to to play well every game and win, but when sometimes you play badly and win it’s a good sign.”
