Amelia rejects Genoa return

Marco Amelia has refused to cut short his loan spell at Milan in order to solve the goalkeeping crisis at his parent club Genoa, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, despite making only two appearances for the Rossoneri so far.
Genoa have lost faith in their current number one Eduardo after a series of costly errors since he joined the club last summer. They tried to sign Cagliari rebel Federico Marchetti as a replacement but that move fell through and now seems dead in the water, so attention turned to Amelia, 28.
Genoa allowed Amelia to join Milan on a season-long loan last summer when they signed Eduardo. However, Amelia’s switch has been ill-fated because he has been Milan’s second-choice keeper all season, with Christian Abbiati preferred in goal.
But Amelia has decided to stay and fight for his place with the Rossoneri rather than return to Genoa and be immediately reinstated as their first-choice keeper.
It is thought that Amelia wants his long-term future to be as Milan’s number one, so he is willing to be a substitute for the rest of the season if it means they take up their option to sign him on a permanent deal.
It is not yet known if Milan will choose to buy Amelia outright, and if they do not then the player’s career could be in limbo as Genoa may not want him back. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
