An air of uncertainty gathers over Stadio Luigi Ferraris and their Coach’s future

The international break has already seen one club change their Coach and it would appear a second sacking could be a real possibility with Genoa reflecting on what has been an indifferent start to the season under Coach Alberto Malesani. Genoa have certainly had worse starts but the two defeats on the spin going into the international break appear to be giving President Enrico Preziosi thoughts of seeking new tactical direction for il Grifone.
Their record on paper so far has been moderate with i Rossoblu sitting in 10th place at present. The season is only five games old but rather than the results, it appears that it is the performances that have caused the greatest concern to Preziosi. The 2-1 defeat away to Chievo was naturally a disappointment but the manner of the defeat to a Parma team who’ve been seen as one-dimensional has led to some questioning Malesani’s job security.
Were it not for the heroics of Sebastian Frey, il Grifone would have suffered a loss much bigger than the 3-1 scoreline. The late consolation goal from the penalty spot from Rodrigo Palacio did little to discourage negativity and without a game on the horizon for two weeks, such negativity may continue to seep into club matters at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The attitude displayed by the players against Parma was a point of contention and it will be up to the Coach and his staff to address such a matter as soon as possible. While players like Palacio and Frey continue to show their quality, the midfield has in particular come under fire with players of repute looking increasing out-of-sorts.
I Rossoblu appear to always be in some kind of turmoil and more often than not such turmoil is self-inflicted. Genoa underwent another squad overhaul this summer as they desperately seek to find a squad that can deliver a consistency that has eluded il Grifone in their attempts to push on and challenge for the European qualification places.
Their first game back from the two-week break is at home to Lecce where should they not take the three points on offer, you would be hard-pressed not to think that Malesani would last much longer in the job. Even if a victory is achieved, the games that follow will be games where Genoa’s ambitions for the season will come under real scrutiny. A trip to the Juventus Arena is followed by tricky home games against Roma and Inter with a trip to Fiorentina in between. Those four games will provide Malesani with a real test of his coaching methods but the President cannot be second guessed as to how much time he’ll give the Coach given his
To dispose of the Coach so soon with a record not as bad as others would appear harsh. However, when the situation is taken into the context of a club with a President like Preziosi, it would appear something that grows in likelihood with each passing day until the next il Grifone victory. Events at Stadio Luigi Ferraris will continue to entertain and perplex neutral observers in equal measure. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
