Alberto Aquilani may move to Fiorentina in the upcoming days, but there are still some hurdles to overcome in negotiations with Liverpool.
Juventus did not take up their option on the Italian international and this has opened the door for La Viola, but according to SportItalia the two clubs have not yet come to an agreement over contractual or payment terms.
Aquilani’s agent, Franco Zavaglia, met with the English club with the intention of getting Aquilani to Fiorentina by the end of the week. He is unlikely to feature in the Red’s first-team plans this season.
The Stadio Artemio Franchi outfit would like to sign the player on a loan basis with an option to make the deal permanent next season for €10 million. However, Liverpool’s preference would be for a direct transfer this window.
The other stumbling block is regarding Aquilani’s wages. He earns €4 million a season on his Reds deals, which expires in two years. This is too excessive for Fiorentina, who would like to spread that amount out over three seasons.
