Aquilani: My best match for Italy

Alberto Aquilani was pleased with his performance and that of the team in Italy’s 1-0 triumph away against Slovenia. The hosts have proven difficult opponents for Italy in the past and last night was no different. However, gli Azzurri went home with the three points thanks to Thiago Motta’s first international strike.
The Juventus midfielder spoke after the final whistle and was happy with the balance of the squad: “It is easy to play in a team where there is always the chance to have a player free who wants the ball,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.com. “I believe I have played my best match in the Italy shirt since we took on Montenegro and I scored two goals.”
Aquilani compared Italy’s football to that of Juventus, and sees the need to try emulate that approach. “We are good with the ball at our feet at Juventus, but without the calmness. Without this we cannot resolve our problems.”
An ex-Roma player, Aquilani was asked about the upcoming Roma vs. Juventus fixture next weekend and his future. “Roma-Juve? I don’t want to talk about the match, but I hope that everybody there is at their best. I hope to remain at Juventus together with [Gianluigi] Buffon.”
