Benitez defends Inter reign

Rafa Benitez has apportioned blame upon Inter bosses for his lack of success with the Milan giants.
The 50-year-old Spaniard, currently out of work, insists injuries to key players and subsequent lack of reinforcements, meant his time with Nerazzurri was doomed to failure.
Speaking to Spanish daily Marca, Benitez said: “Why didn’t we strengthen in the summer? I was surprised too. In August we discussed ways to improve the team. I put everything in writing, but then nothing happened.”
The former Liverpool and Valencia manager also moved to distance himself or his staff from any involvement in the escalating injury problems.
“Myself and my staff did not have control over medical issues or the work of the club medic and his athletic coach.
“We did not follow therapies or recoveries and, a month after we left Inter, there were eight muscular injuries.”

Reports in English tabloid The Mirror earlier this week, suggested Juventus were keen to replace Luigi Del Neri with Benitez – a coach they were linked with before Del Neri was appointed in May of last year. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
