Benitez: “If we win, I will stay here for long”

Rafa Benitez says he is confident that he will be on the Inter bench for long if he wins the Club World Club. Following a spate of negative results, many names have come up in the media as possible replacements, but the Spaniard is unfazed.
“So many times I’ve read the names of my substitutes in the newspapers, but I am the Coach. I want to win the World Cup and if we do, I’ll be here for a long time.”
There has been increasing tension at the Nerazzurri with President Massimo Moratti repeatedly stating his displeasure with the team. After the 3-0 defeat to Werder Bremen in the Champions League, the Inter patron said he ‘felt betrayed’.
Benitez insists that things are fine between him and Moratti: “I talked to the President before and after the match in Bremen. I am calm, he knew everything – what condition the team arrived in Germany, he knew what it was like and that’s enough for me.”
Inter have already tasted defeat seven times this season which is one more than they suffered the whole of last season. The team has also lost five of its previous seven games, but Benitez is optimistic about the future.
“I’ve always been calm. This week may be better for us than before and things could change. We talk a lot about my future, but people don’t remember that I’ve played in so many finals.”
The Nerazzurri will begin their World Cup campaign on Wednesday when they face the winners of tonight’s game between Al-Wahda of UAE and Seongnam Ilhwa in the semi-finals. The Spanish Coach is not too concerned about his opponents but is looking at his own team.
“I’ve great respect for our opponents, but the most important thing is our team and if we do well we can win. We’re here to to win. It will be great for us to do so, for us, the club and the fans.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
