Benitez pleased with Inter’s progress

Rafa Benitez could finally breathe a sigh of relief as Inter team showcased the form that helped them to the treble last season in their 3-0 victory over Seongnam Ilhwa in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Nerazzurri were dominant for most of the game and their three strikes came courtesy of Dejan Stankovic, Javier Zanetti and Diego Milito. The Argentinean striker played a crucial role in all the goals and Benitez lauded his contribution.
“I’ve said many times before that this attack works very well and Milito’s absence affected us. Now thankfully we are back and the return of the injured players gives us reassurance.”
There was some bad news for Inter though as Wesley Sneijder limped off the field in the opening minutes clutching his thigh and the Spanish Coach feels that he may not be able to recover in time.
“We changed everything, right from the beginning because of Sneijder’s injury and I fear that he may have to miss the final next Saturday. Unfortunately he averted some muscle pain but the team showed their character, they respected the opponent, and they won with a touch of class.”
Inter’s opponents in the final will be surprise package TP Mazembe who pulled off a big upset against Brazilian side Internacional to become the first African team to reach the finals of the Club World Cup.
“I saw our next opponents, they are worthy of respect and we have to prepare the game well”, said Benitez wary that Inter will have to ride the wave of expectation and win this competition to silence their critics. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
