Benitez: “Sneijder out, Maicon in”

Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Wesley Sneijder is out of the FIFA Club World Cup final against TP Mazembe to be played on Saturday. He also revealed that Brazilian Maicon will make his much awaited return from injury.
Sneijder limped off in the first minute of Inter’s semi-final clash last night after suffering a heavy knock upon being tackled. Benitez had stated yesterday that the Dutchman had suffered some muscle damage.
In an interview with reporters, Benitez confirmed that Sneijder will miss out on the final: “He is still recovering and we don’t want to take any chances with him.”
Sneijder thanked all his team-mates and the fans for their support through an official statement on Inter’s website: “I would like to thank all the fans who are close to me at this moment, we played a great game, I am with the group.”
“It is important for the club, for our fans and for all of us to bring this trophy back to Milan. If they win, I win too”
, said the Dutch midfielder. Sneijder’s desire to win the Cup was reiterated by his Coach.
“We would definitely like to go on and win now. The group is doing very well together. We’ve recovered most of our players and on Sunday Maicon will also probably be back. So I’m positive.”
Maicon was on the bench for the Nreazzurri’s semi-final game but may slot straight back into the starting lineup on Saturday. The Brazilian hasn’t featured since picking up an injury against Tottenham in early November.
Inter will take on African champions TP Mazembe in the final wary of the fact that the Congolese side has already shocked Pachuca and Internacional. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
