Buffon agent unhappy with Del Neri’s comments

Gianluigi Buffon’s agent severly criticised Bianconeri Coach Gigi Del Neri after he stated in an interview last night that the custodian was no longer indispensable.
Buffon has missed the entire season through injury and recently underwent a back operation and is currently in rehabilitating from the surgery.
His agent Silvano Martina felt that Del Neri’s comments in the light of the Old Lady’s win over Lazio were ill-mannered and mistimed.
“It was a wretched interview. I didn’t expect this from a decent person like Del Neri “, told a visibly irate Martina to Tuttosport.
Relationships between him and Del Neri haven’t always been cordial but this is the first time that he has launched a direct attack on the Juve manager.
“These comments showed a distinct lack of respect towards Buffon. If I was Juventus President, I would have fined Del Neri.”
Sporting Director Beppe Marrotta was quick to defuse the current matter by claiming that Del Neri’s comments were from a trainer’s perspective rather than representative of the club.
“Buffon is a Juve player. There is utmost respect for him. What Del Neri wanted to say was that he is the manager of the group and it’s up to him to make certain decisions.”
Buffon had come under criticism from Del Neri earlier as well for failing to show up at Juve’s training ground facilities during his injury lay-off.
The Coach was also displeased when Buffon failed to turn up for an award ceremony in Switzerland and missed out on the team photo.
There have been suggestions that Buffon may want to leave the Bianconeri and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the Azzurri custodian.
