Cannavaro set to commit to Napoli for life

Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro will end speculation over his future by committing to the Vesuviani for the rest of his career the Corriere Dello Sport understands.
There had been fears that contract negotiations had failed to produce an agreement between the player’s agent, Gaetano Fedele and club president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, but now it seems the problems have been resolved and the 29-year-old defender looks set to remain at the club until 2016.
In a recent interview, the player himself had stated that: “I hope to conclude the rest of my career at this club” but rumours started to reverberate around the peninsula that De Laurentiis was not prepared to meet his captain’s new contract demands and with Cannavaro’s current deal due to expire next summer, the player who was born in Napoli, would have been free to negotiate a new deal with a rival club from February next year. An official announcement is expected sometime next week.
