Capello and Spalletti in pole to replace Benitez at Inter

England Coach Fabio Capello and ex-Roma tactician Luciano Spalletti are Massimo Moratti’s number one and two choices respectively to replace Rafa Benitez, should he be axed from the Inter bench.
Benitez’s future at the Nerazzurri is now said to hinge on the side’s performance at the Club World Cup, a tournament that Inter owner Moratti is very keen to win. Failure to do so, will almost surely see Benitez packing his bags.
As replacements go, earlier reports of former Inter players Walter Zenga or Diego Simeone taking over have been discarded and it is believed that Moratti wants a long term solution rather than a quick fix.
It was well known that Inter tried to sign Fabio Capello before the World Cup in June and he is now Moratti’s prime target to take over the helms of the club.
Capello’s abject performances as England Coach have made his position more tenuous than before, and the FA have already started looking for a new manager to replace the Italian upon his departure after Euro 2012.
Spalletti is also an option that Inter will be exploring keenly after his success with Zenit St.Petersburg. He led the Russians to the title in his first season and Moratti may look to bring him back to Italy.
However, it would be difficult for such a move to take place from a technical point of view as Spalletti is on a hefty package in Petersburg and has talked about his desire to stay at the club repeatedly.
There are also reports that Inter may look to draft in Leonardo who was in charge of Milan last year. The Brazilian did well with the Rossoneri but quit because of differences with President Silvio Berlusconi.
He may also represent a chance for Inter to get back at their city rivals after they have repeatedly signed former Inter talismans including the likes of Christian Vieri, Ronaldo and now Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
