Capello: Reja reminds me of Bagnoli

England Coach Fabio Capello has heaped praise on Edy Reja’s Lazio comparing the manager and his team to the stunning Verona side which won the Championship in 84-85. “The biggest surprise this season is Lazio and they would do well to qualify for the Champions League. They have got great players in the midfield and also a great coach, a bit like that Verona side”, said the manager who won Scudetti with Milan and Roma.
Capello also criticized the poor showing of the Italian sides in Europe during his interview with Radio Sport: “At the European level we are in a bad shape and this is not a good thing, because perhaps we are satisfied with our performances within Italy. I think the policy makers and the tacticians at the youth level need to get a broader world view”.
In fact, Capello even suggested that Inter’s victory in the Champions League was a result of the number of foreigners in the Nerazzurri squad: “In Europe it is the physical and technical game of football that gets the best results over the tactical details of Italian football. Inter won the Champions League because they had so many foreigners”.
He went on to reiterate the need to add a physical dimension to the Italian game: “In today’s game it is not enough to just have a good set of feet to win, you need physical strength and the ability to play ninety minutes without too many interruptions”.
Capello finally quashed any ideas of him returning to Italian football after his stint in charge of the Three Lions comes to an end: “I will retire after the European Championships. A return to coaching in Italy seems very difficult”. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
