Casiraghi set to vacate U21 hot seat, Costacurta could come in

After Tuesday afternoon’s incredible collapse against Belarus in the U21 European Championship qualifying play-off, coach Pierluigi Casiraghi looks set to be axed by the FIGC.
Taking a two goal lead into the game from the first leg, the Azzurrini capitulated in the opening six minutes as the hosts levelled the tie with two quick strikes. The home side wrapped the game up six minutes into the first period of extra time and now federation bosses Gianni Petrucci and Giancarlo Abete will search for a replacement.
Petrucci was furious after game describing the defeat in the Gazzetta dello Sport as: “a disaster” as this also means that the youngsters will not qualify for the Olympic tournament in London in 2012. The early favourites to succeed Casiraghi are thought to be current Under 19 coach Daniele Zoratto or former Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
