Cavani plays down Maradona comparisons

Napoli’s star of the moment, Edison Cavani, has once again rejected comparisons with Diego Maradona saying that the Argentine was and will always be in a different league.
Cavani’s spectacular form for the Partenopei has seen them go into the winter break in second spot only three points behind leaders Milan and also become the only Italian team to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
“There can be no comparisons with Maradona, he was an idol for the people of Naples and it will be very difficult to equal what he did here”, said the Uruguayan who only arrived from Palermo at the beginning of this season.
Ever since, coming to Naples Cavani has blossomed into one of the most feared forwards in the league and tops the scoring charts with 10 goals already to his name and many of them have been decisive.
“I just try to be myself and hope to leave a mark on this team. I came to Naples to give everything and do my best. We have an exceptional group, it reminds me of the atmosphere in the locker room at the World Cup with Uruguay. We can do great things together.”
Cavani was part of the Uruguay side which went all the way to the semi-finals in South Africa and he scored against Germany in the 3rd place play-off. The new poster boy of the San Paolo also shared his views on the troubles at Inter.
“Inter? They are not having the easiest time now with the change of Coach. However, I’m sure that they will be back and come in contention to be fighting for the Scudetto.”
Cavani’s Partenopei side will travel to the San Siro to take on the Nerazzurri in their first fixture of the New Year on the 6th of January. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
