Chelsea join race to sign Roma man Mexes

According to Mercafutbol.com, the Spanish football website, Chelsea has joined the list of clubs that include Milan and Chelsea, who are reportedly tracking Roma defender, Philippe Mexes.
The French centre-back who has experienced a torrid season thus far and whose contract expires in June is said to be unlikely to renew. Considering he has a number of clubs interested in his services and after having spent six seasons with the capital club, he may well entertain the idea of starting a new adventure.
Chelsea seem to be the most interested party at present as they look to replace the departed Ricardo Carvalho who left in the summer for Real Madrid. Their manager, Carlo Ancelotti knows Mexes well and is fully aware of his capabilities in defence having watched him in action in Italy so a move to the Premiership club would not seem entirely unlikely.
