Crespo brace helps Parma past Fiorentina in Coppa Italia

Veteran striker Hernan Crespo scored twice in extra time to help Parma come from behind to beat Fiorentina. The 35 year old took his tally to eight so far this season and in doing so put Parma through to the quarter finals.
The Stadio Ennio Tardini watched as the two sides failed to hit the back of the net in normal time, however, Mario Santana’s goal in the 114th minute looked to have won the game for Fiorentina.
This sparked an amazing come back as Parma as they scored twice within three minutes of conceding. Crespo rolled back the years to show that he is still capable of some clinical finishing.
The 35 year-old striker brought the Gialloblu on level terms with a shot in the bottom corner that keeper Avramov should have saved. Then he tapped in a rebound from Candreva’s parried shot to give the Ducali the lead.
Parma who lie 16th in the Serie A table will welcome the distraction of the Coppa Italia and will hope that this result can be replicated in their next league match this weekend against Bologna.
For Fiorentina this result compounds a bad week for them as this result comes off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Udinese. Sinisa Mihajlovic was evidently disappointed when he said “The Coppa Italia was one of our objectives, and it is a shame. We should not have lost”. This result will no doubt put extra pressure on the Fiorentina coach. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
