De Rossi outraged by betting scandal association

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has expressed disgust in allegations associating him with the recent betting scandal in Italy.
Though the player has not been arrested or will not be subject to investigation, his name appeared on a list asserting he spoke with one of the assailants over the phone.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports De Rossi’s furious comments dismissing his ties to the situation: “I am outraged. There have been false references made about me regarding a situation that I have nothing to do with at all.”
De Rossi continued by stating his reason for coming to the press immediately following his association to the scandal:
“To point out all my indignation at what appeared in some newspapers, however, immediately contradicted by authoritative judicial sources.”
FIGC President Giancarlo Abete leapt to De Rossi’s defense in a press conference ahead of the Azzurri’s match with Estonia:
“If each of us is mentioned in a phone call and is in a position of having to justify, it means that we have a problem in civil society. De Rossi is a column in the National team and remains so.”
The Roma midfielder reiterated his innocence by concluding: “There have been references made against me which are totally false and invented, and for this reason I will protect my image and my integrity in court against anyone who will associate my name to this story. I have nothing to add.”
Courts clarified that De Rossi is not one of the 16 people accused or countless others subject to investigation in Italy’s newest match-fixing scandal. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
