Del Neri to quit Juventus

Juventus Coach Gigi Del Neri has told journalists ahead of the Napoli game that he would be leaving the Bianconeri after tomorrow’s match as the club wants to proceed in a different direction.
Del Neri’s future has been the subject of much speculation after another abject season by Juventus who currently are in seventh place and likely to miss out on a place in Europe altogether.
“Next year, Juventus will have a new Coach,” the tactician announced. “I wish good luck to the ones here and the next Coach. I hope this is the right choice and they find the correct solution.
“The club told me about this, on Wednesday or Tuesday, I don’t remember. As for the future? It is said that when one door closes, another one opens.”

Del Neri was asked if he regretted any of the decisions he had made in the course of the season or felt like he was being made a scapegoat for the team’s dismal performance, but he denied both these claims.
“I accept the club’s choice though, I repeat, I would do it all over again. Juve did not have time to wait for a change and a gradual growth. I understand them, for a club like Juve must always fight to win.
“Do I feel like a scapegoat? I’m one who works for the company and the company must decide whether to go ahead with me or change. Everyone must be free to decide what is right. Is this a personal defeat? Absolutely not. “

Del Neri however, did express his regret at having to quit the club and personally felt that he deserved more time at the helm.
“I was proud of the Juve project initially, and that is why I gave up on the Champions League with Sampdoria just to be part of it. I was happy for incoming Quagliarella, Aquilani, De Ceglie’s growth, the return to form of Iaquinta.
“Then the collapse started in January that completely changed the course of our season. Injuries have affected everything. Personally I would have liked to continue for another year, partly because I have a contract for another 12 months.
“Being the Coach of Juventus has made me mature. The boys were wonderful, they were easy to manage. I met a new environment that has made me grow a lot. I do not have to prove anything to anyone, and life goes on.”

Del Neri is widely expected to be replaced by Antonio Conte who is a Juventus legend and led Siena back to Serie A this term. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
