Ferrara eager to start with Italy U-21

Ciro Ferrara has expressed his great eagerness to start with the Italy U-21 squad. Ahead of his first game in charge after replacing Pierluigi Casiraghi, Ferrara spoke of his great desire to start with the Azzurini fledglings: “I have positive feelings of facing this new adventure for me and the boys, many of whom have been together for a long time”.
The former Juventus Coach stated that he had been looking forward to getting back to management fold after his adventure with the Bianconeri ended unceremoniously: “I wanted to return to coaching, whatever the level. Be it Serie A or Serie B. I continue my journey with enthusiasm”.
Ferrara also said that he had clear ideas for how he wanted to build his new team: “I have studied the boys and they have studied me. I want a team that has a definitive style and can be heard and not one which is dumb. Some of our players have already played at a national level, so both for them and the youngsters it is important to demonstrate their quality”.
The ex-Bianconero also chose to speak about the state of youngsters in the Italian game and made a case for them: “If young people play and the results are not forthcoming, they are the first to be blamed. Our current football culture is one where we import talent whereas others prefer to build and nurture it”.
Ferrara finally expressed hope that some of his team can go on and achieve success on the domestic and international front as well: “We have seen previously that players doing well at the U-21 level have found a role in the championship as well, and I wish that this will happen with regularity”.
The Azzurrini will take on their Turkish counterparts in a friendly clash on Wednesday night.
