Fiorentina expect Montolivo departure

Fiorentina Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino has told journalists the club is still waiting on Riccardo Montolivo to decide his future, but admits he is not optimistic about the player staying.
Speaking at a club function celebrating 85 years of Fiorentina existence, Pantaleo has opened the door widely for interested parties Juventus and Inter as reported by tuttojuve.com.
The 26-year-old Bergamo native has not yet extended his current contract, which will expire at the end of next season. Corvino stated that la Viola have done their part and the ball is now in Monty’s court.
“The club has made a very important offer to the player and you know that I would never lie. When he has not accepted the offer for a year and a half I do not believe anything will happen in the next few days.”
Fiorentina patron Andrea Della Valle remarked on the weekend Fiorentina are at the end of their current era and so Montolivo, the club captain, has to make the decision whether to lead la Viola into its new era or chase one of the bigger clubs in Italy.
“One thing is certain, it is a decision that he has to make but I am not optimistic,” Corvino said.
