Flamengo claim Ronaldinho deal

Flamengo have claimed that they have struck a deal to sign Ronaldinho, despite the Milan player seemingly being on the verge of joining fellow Brazilian club Gremio.
Ronaldinho has been set for a return to his homeland for some time, and Milan have publicly stated their willingness for a deal to go through. He has left the Rossoneri’s training camp in Dubai to travel to Porto Alegre in Brazil, where he is due to hold talks with his boyhood club Gremio about a return.
However, Flamengo could throw a spanner in the works of an emotional homecoming. Patricia Amorim, Flamengo’s president, has claimed that her club are also in the running and that they already have an agreement in place with the Brazilian for his wages which are the subject of much discussion.
“Now we need to understand what Milan want to do with the final six months of the contract that tie him to the club. Our proposal is consistent and we have put what is not a small operation in place.
I don’t know if Ronaldinho will end up playing with us, but he will certainly do it in Brazil. He is drawn to Gremio due to an affectionate issue, as it is where he started his career, but with us it is more of an economic negotiation.
“We also have in our favour the city, as Ronaldinho considers Rio de Janeiro to be enchanting.”
Milan have previously announced that they will sell the 30-year-old for €8 million.
