Juventus legend Franco Causio is unhappy with his old club’s dealings in the January transfer window. The ex winger talked of his dismay that the Bianconeri had missed out Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini.
This January saw Cassano move to Milan whilst Pazzini decided to join Inter, Juventus in the mean time moved for Luca Toni on a free transfer and Alessandro Matri who is on loan from Cagliari.
The Old Lady’s Sporting Director Beppe Marotta claimed that Juve had missed out on Pazzini as his price-tag was unsuitable considering the Bianconeri’s summer spending and current financial state, rather than lack of ambition.
However, Causio did not agree stating:
‘The Baron’ who played 305 games for Juventus in the 1970’s also had concerns about the Bianconeri’s new acquisition Alessandro Matri and the price at which the club have agreed to purchase him.
“Matri isn’t a player who can make the difference. He is a player who needs a champion alongside him, otherwise he doesn’t make an impact. His €18m valuation seems a lot and I’m not sure whether he is worth it.
“Although I don’t really want to say whether he is worth it or not. I just wish him all the best and hope that he scores the goals that many in Turin are not at the moment.”
