Fulham in for Maxi Lopez and Newcastle linked with Iaquinta

After seeing the likes of Alberto Gilardino and Marco Borriello already seal their moves to Genoa and Juventus respectively, three more strikers seem to be on the brink of a transfer in the January window.
Maxi Lopez, who has been linked with a move to AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina, has been subject to a €12m bid from English Premier League side Fulham. Catania Sporting Director Pietro Lo Monaco stated that “an offer has been received from Fulham and we are evaluating it. We are waiting to see what other clubs will do. AC Milan are definitely out, while we will see what happens with Fiorentina and Lazio”. The former Barcelona and Gremio hitman has struggled to hit the back of the net this season, with only 3 goals to his name.
Vincenzo Iaquinta has been linked with a transfer to the English Premier League as well, with Newcastle United being the destination. The Magpies have offered the former Udinese striker a loan deal with the option to buy, as they see him as the perfect replacement for AFCON bound striker Demba Ba. Juve have accepted their bid, however it is now up to Iaquinta, as he continues to weigh up his options after falling down the pecking order since the arrivals of Alessandro Matri, Mirko Vucinic, Fabio Quagliarella and now Marco Borriello.
Another move which nears completion is the loan deal for Genoa’s Andrea Caracciolo to Novara. The Serie A newcomers are desperate for an experienced striker to help lead the line, as goals have been hard to come by for the perennial relegation candidates. Caracciolo has struggled for goals since his big move from Brescia in the summer, and it remains to be seen if his goals will be enough to secure another Serie A season for the minnows.
