Galliani laughs at ‘Inter come-back’

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has scoffed at suggestions the blue half of the city is in the ascendency in Serie A. Inter moved into third after Wednesday’s 2-1 triumph in Florence and narrowed Milan’s advantage to 5 points.
Rossoneri go into Sunday’s game at Chievo with confidence low after the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last-16. However, Galliani denied the pressure was intensified by Inter’s return to form.
“I keep hearing about great comebacks, but I don’t see any of this. Since Leonardo took over, Inter have played eight games, taking 18 points and we have taken 16.
“Inter’s recovery in this calculation should not be considered. Obviously there are people who see in the future. Not me: I only know that we are first, and that is the only thing that matters. “

The Nerazzurri’s participation in the Club World Cup in December created a back-log of fixtures for the defending champions, but now Milan and Inter both have 13 games remaining.
Despite Galliani’s confidence, Milan enter a crucial period of the season. After Chievo they have successive games against second placed Napoli and a Juventus team that defeated Inter in last weekend’s Derby D’Italia, plus the second leg against Tottenham.
Ugly scenes and a dispiriting performance against England’s fourth-best side saw Milan widely criticized, however the vice-president told the players to focus on Serie A, he told Gazzetta Dello Sport
“I asked the coach and players to not think about the Champions League until after the game with Juventus. Right now the priority is to keep the top of the standings and possibly better.
“We are first with thirteen games remaining, it means that we have continuity and we deserve to be where we are.“ Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
