Genoa complete signing of Parma duo

Genoa have completed a complicated deal to sign Alberto Paloschi and Luca Antonelli from Parma in exchange for Raffaele Palladino and Francesco Modesto, plus cash.
New Genoa coach Davide Ballardini has been keen to change the squad and bring in his own choice of players, and has sealed an agreement for Parma’s two highly-rated youngsters. In addition to Palladino and Modesto, Parma are receiving €7 million.
The complex nature of the transfers mean that Palladino and Paloschi are only co-owned by their new clubs, as Juventus and Milan respectively still own half of the players.
Effectively, Genoa and Parma have swapped their co-ownership rights for the duo. Antonelli and Modesto have both swapped clubs on permanent deals, though.
Modesto was one of the players that Ballardini has deemed surplus to requirements at his new Genoa team, and so has been traded for new Italy international Antonelli.
The €7 million payment from Genoa was to secure Antonelli’s signature as he is valued significantly higher than Modesto. The four players will officially join their new clubs on January 1.
