Heinze keen on Juventus switch

Gabriel Heinze has declared his interest in a summer transfer to Juventus.
The 33-year-old defender, who can play centrally or on the left side, is likely to leave Marseille at the end of the current campaign and favours a move to Turin.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Heinze said: “Juve are a great club and my career would be perfect if I could play in Serie A.”
The combative former Manchester United and Real Madrid player revealed that he was close to signing for the Old Lady on a number of occasions, before eventually agreeing moves elsewhere, but is hoping Juventus will rekindle their interest.
“I was close to Juve twice,” added Heinze. “But first there was the bid from Manchester United that I could not refuse, then came the second call from Real Madrid.”
It is unclear whether Juventus would continue their pursuit of Heinze given his age, but the Argentina international, who has nearly 80 caps and was present at two World Cups, would certainly add experience to a faltering, incomplete side.
“We’ll see if I’m lucky to get a third offer from Juve this year,” concluded Heinze.
Juventus remain in the hunt for the final Champions League spot, four points adrift of fourth placed Lazio and host Chievo on Monday night.
