Hernanes hails Lazio victory

Lazio’s influential playmaker Hernanes has praised his side after yesterday’s important win against Bari. It was the Brazilian’s seventh goal of the season which steered le Aquile to the three points.
The win was coupled with the Biancocelesti seeing their nearest challengers for the final Champions League spot fail to pick up maximum points. Palermo, Juventus and Roma all lost, while Udinese drew at home versus Brescia, making Hernanes’ sixth minute goal in the narrow win all the more vital.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.com, the former Sao Paulo midfielder spoke of a difficult match and a crucial victory:
“Without doubt it is an important victory for the objectives we have. For us it is a decisive win; this is a difficult championship and Bari made us suffer. We will take these three important points while I am happy with my best match so far in a Lazio shirt.”
The day was made even sweeter for the Lazio tifosi, as Roma threw away a three-goal lead to lose 4-3 at Genoa. This prompted Claudio Ranieri to resign afterwards. Fans from the blue half of Rome were able to celebrate this loss as much as their sides win. Hernanes recalled something similar in Brazil:
“I saw the same thing when I played for Sao Paulo. The fans were rejoicing at every Corinthians and Palmeiras defeat.”
