Inter president Massimo Moratti has confessed that he was initially joking about signing Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, but now is seriously considering an attempt.
Moratti, as a passing comment, teased that he would bring Messi to the San Siro, but his comments provoked such a reaction that he now thinking about a bid.
He said to the Gazzetta dello Sport: “I was joking, but now I am seriously starting to really ask myself that question. So many people are asking me to buy a world-class, quality player. Messi is the strongest of them all.
“I am starting to really ask myself that question. To buy him or not? I haven’t yet been able to give myself an answer, yes or no,” he admitted.
Moratti’s interest in Messi is very audacious, not least because the world’s best player has a 250 million Euro buy-out clause in his contract, and earns approximately 10 million Euros a season.
