Inter turn attention to van Persie

Robin van Persie of Arsenal could be Inter’s main transfer priority in the summer after they admitted defeat in their pursuit of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.
The Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Spurs’ enormous valuation of Bale – thought to be in the region of €50 million, has forced Inter to look elsewhere for a marquee signing at the end of the season. Bale’s North London rival, van Persie, now seems to fit that bill.
The Dutch striker would certainly not come cheaply either, although Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti is ready to fork out a record fee to land his man.
Arsenal play in the Carling Cup final at the weekend as they try to end a six-year wait for silverware. As a result of this drought, the likes of Cesc Fabregas have been heavily linked with exits from the Emirates Stadium, and now van Persie could be the latest big name to jump ship.
Leonardo, the Inter coach, will focus on bringing attacking talent to the club in the summer to match his philosophy. He has already signed Giampaolo Pazzini and now wants to see a big-money move for van Persie completed, too. Leonardo wants those two in an attacking trident with Samuel Eto’o for next season.
