Julio Baptista completes Roma exit

Julio Baptista has secured his long-awaited exit from Roma after agreeing a deal to sign for Spanish club Malaga. Despite Roma’s struggles this season, Baptista has still been unable to sustain a first-team spot.
Having been out-of-favour all season, the Brazilian has been allowed to leave and sign for big-spending Malaga. Malaga board member Jose Carlos Perez confirmed his arrival at the club.
“He has signed for two-and-a-half years and the transfer fee is €2 million with Roma.” Baptista will start training with Malaga from Monday under Coach Manuel Pellegri.
The Spanish club are currently in the relegation zone, but were bought by Qatari-based Sheik Al-Thani last summer, and he is now extensively re-shaping the squad with some hefty investments.
Along with Baptista, Malaga have bought Martin Demichelis, who was a target for Juventus. The Spaniards were also linked to Sampdoria’s Reto Ziegler and have already secured the signature of Enzo Maresca.
Baptista, 29, has previously played in Spain with Sevilla and Real Madrid and will now be looking to get his career back on track after several months on the sidelines with Roma.
