Juve can improve, says Conte

Antonio Conte was glad to leave Lecce with the three points, but stresses Juventus can improve on their performance.
Alessandro Matri was introduced as a first-half substitute for the injured Fabio Quagliarella and grabbed the only goal of the game shortly after, nodding home from Mirko Vucnic’s saved shot.
Juventus had struggled following the past two winter breaks, notably last season where the season unravelled after a 4-1 drubbing against Parma.
“I said on the eve of the game that the championship restart is always an unknown quantity. We’re happy about the points, even if we could have wrapped the game up earlier. In terms of performance, we can do better. I liked how the lads wanted to seal the victory, striving right until the end.”
Conte then turned his attention to January signing Marco Borriello, who was targeted in a banner unfurled by the away fans in Lecce.
“Marco’s explained why he didn’t come here two years ago. He didn’t turn the club down; also because only someone crazy would turn reject Juventus. He, alongside Quagliarella, Matri, [Alessandro] Del Piero and Vucinic, is one of the five strikers I have available. We’ll see what happens in the rest of the transfer window. I speak with the club every day.”
