Juventus and Sampdoria crash out of Europa League

Juventus and Sampdoria were sent crashing out of the UEFA Europa League after both teams failed to secure a win that would have kept them alive in the competition.
The Bianconeri only managed a draw 1-1 in the below zero temperatures of Poland against Lech Poznan while the Blucerchiati lost 2-1 at home to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.
The Genovese side was the first to bow out despite taking the lead through brilliant Giampaolo Pazzini diving header on the stroke of half-time.
Two goals from Ola Toivonen either side of Guido Marilungo’s sending off meant PSV topped Group I while Sampdoria were left ruing their missed chances.
Juventus found themselves in a similar state of affairs a few hours later as their fifth draw in five games meant that Poznan and Manchester City advanced to the next stage.
Artjoms Rudnevs who scored a hat-trick in the last game between the two sides, was once again the bane for the Old Lady as he gave Poznan an early lead.
Iaquinta pulled one back for the Bianconeri towards the end but it didn’t prove to be enough as Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City picked up a win against FC Salzburg courtesy of two goals from Mario Balotelli.
