Juventus consider move for Maxi Lopez or Marica

With the January transfer window drawing ever closer, clubs are fast setting in motion their transfer plans and latest reports link Juventus to Catania’s Maxi Lopez and Romanian Ciprian Marica. The Bianconeri were looking for an additional striker in the summer and the failed transfer of Antonio Di Natale offset their plans.
Coach Gigi Del Neri and Sporting Director Beppe Marrotta have both admitted that the Old Lady will look to sign players in January and getting hold of a forward seems to be their top priorty. Talks with Maxi Lopez had taken place in July according to some sources but Catania were adamant in keeping hold of the Argentine.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Bianconeri scouts have been tracking Lopez all season and have now confirmed his suitability for the club. The 26 year old Italian-Argentine forward led the Sicilian club to a respectable finish last season and has scored 12 goals since joining them in January.
Similary, Romanian Ciprian Marica is also being considered as an alternative for the Bianconeri. The pink paper states that Del Neri’s close aides were in Austria to witness the Italy-Romania friendly and were impressed by the Stuttgart’s man performance who scored his side’s opener.
Marica is said to represent a cost effective option for the Old Lady who are looking at their purse after spending in excess of €50 million in the summer whilst rebuilding their squad.
