Juventus set their sights on Bayern Munich’s Gomez

According to reports in Corriere Dello Sport, Juventus are planning a January raid for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez. The Spanish born German international has been in scintillating form this season and scored both his side’s goals in the 3-2 defeat to Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
It is believed that the player is unhappy in Germany and his relationship with coach Louis Van Gaal has been strained for some time. Juventus Sporting Director Beppe Marrotta has already met with the player’s representatives in Basel earlier this week and a deal is rumoured to be near completion.
The asking price from the German giants is likely to be around 20 million pounds and the Bianconeri do have the money necessary to close the deal by using funds they had set aside to aquire Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg – a transfer that has now been aborted.
The Old Lady are definitely going to go into the market looking for a striker and it seems the player would arrive initially on loan in January with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
