Juventus want Aquilani on the cheap

Juventus are keen to exercise their option to keep Alberto Aquilani at the club on a permanent basis, but only if Liverpool agree to sell him for a discounted fee.
The Italy international is currently on loan in Turin from Liverpool after a disastrous season in the Premier League. It was assumed that Juve would sign him outright in the summer because he has impressed upon returning to Serie A, but it now seems there won’t be a deal unless the midfielder’s price-tag is lowered.
Liverpool paid £20 million for Aquilani when they signed him from Roma but his solitary season at the club was interrupted by injury, and the club struggled. Despite his limited appearances Aquilani had been ridiculed as one of the most expensive flops ever, but he has recaptured his form in Italy.
It is thought that Liverpool would want a fee in the region of £17m for Aquilani because they do not want to lose too much money on him. However, Juve are not prepared to pay such a high fee and will try to do business at approximately £12m.
Aquilani has expressed a desire to stay with the Bianconeri beyond his loan deal which expires in the summer. In the next few weeks, Juve general manager Beppe Marotta is expected to meet his Liverpool counterpart Damien Comolli to discuss the future of the 26-year-old.
