Juventus want Catania’s Maxi Lopez

Corriere dello Sport has reported that Juventus’ search for a new striker has taken them to Catania’s Maxi Lopez.
Lopez has only netted once this season, but became hot property when he fired in 11 goals last term for Catania after joining last January. That kind of potential has alerted some big clubs, not least Juventus, for whom a new striker is on the wish-list.
Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco has already outlined the club’s ambition to keep the Argentine for the rest of the season, and then consider selling him in June if the price is right. However, Juve’s sporting director Beppe Marotta looks set to test their resolve with a bid in January.
Lopez, now 26-years-old, was signed by Barcelona from River Plate in 2005, but never quite made the grade at the Nou Camp. He has since had spells in Russia and Brazil before signing for Catania, but it looks like Juventus are hoping he will transfer again.
