Lazio deny Nesta return rumours

Lazio club president Claudio Lotito has vehemently denied that club legend Alessandro Nesta could make a shock return to the club at the end of the season, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
In the past few days, Milan’s 34-year-old defender has been linked with an exit from the San Siro when his contract expires at the end of June. It seemed for a while that his hometown club Lazio would be his next destination, but Lotito has moved quickly to stop such rumours.
“Nesta back to Lazio? That is only an invention,” he claimed. “I would rather find another solution instead. And also, you all have a Lazio fan as your president – I realise that the defence is quite strong.”
Milan have by no means indicated that they would be willing to allow the former Italy international to leave for nothing, but his high wages coupled with injury problems mean the two parties have been linked with an amicable parting. Milan have been linked with several centre-backs as a long-term replacement for Nesta.
