Lazio look to Brazil for defensive reinforcements

Sitting pretty at the top of Serie A, Lazio chief Claudio Lotito is already planning for next season with a particular eye on several Brazilian defenders.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Biancocelesti have been heavily linked with a summer move for Sao Paolo’s Miranda, the 26-year-old has been closely tracked by the capital club and preliminary negotiations could be imminent. Another central defender on the club’s hit list is Leandro Castan, the 24-year-old Corinthians stopper has an Italian passport and has been nicknamed “the new Lucio” he may well be an alternative should the Miranda deal hit a stumbling block.
Another young player to be linked with Lotito’s side is 20-year-old Goias defender Rafael Tolio, the player is awaiting EU clearance and is valued somewhere in the region of two million pounds. Palmeiras captain Danilo Larangeira is also on the Aquile radar and he too has an Italian passport. The club are monitoring the situation with all the players with a June assault looking most likely.
