Lazio to rival Man Utd for Coentrao

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Lazio are set to rival Manchester United and several other European clubs in attempting to capture the services of Portugal full-back Fabio Coentrao.
Javier Garrido has failed to impress in the left back berth since arriving in the summer from Manchester City, so much so that he has been dropped from the squad to face Lazio in the Coppa Italia this evening.
As a result, the Corriere dello Sport claims that Aquile chief Claudio Lotito is planning to open negotiations with Benfica about the possibility of signing Coentrao.
The defender rose to prominence with a string of impressive performances during the 2010 World Cup and such form has alerted the powers that be at Lazio.
However, the Eagles face competition from a number of clubs with United, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal all thought to be monitoring Coentrao’s situation.
Benfica are thought to be reluctant to part with the 22-year-old who will command a fee of at least €20 million.
The former Rio Ave player is said to be happy at the Portuguese giants, but a move to one of Europe’s elite could tempt to defender away. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
