Lecce loan Genoa defender

Lecce have bolstered their defence with the loan signing of Genoa’s Nenad Tomovic, and are close to reinforcing further with the arrival of Napoli’s Fabiano Santacroce.
Lecce’s paltry defence has been the main reason that they currently sit second from bottom in Serie A. They have conceded 34 goals this season – the worst record in the league – and therefore have immediately acted in the January transfer window by loaning one new defender, and coming close to a second.
Tomovic, 23, is a centre-back who has struggled for playing time so far this campaign with Genoa, so he has been allowed to make a temporary switch to Lecce for the remainder of the season. In his one and a half seasons with Genoa, the Serbian has only made 14 Serie A appearances.
Tomovic could be followed through the door by Santacroce in the next few days. Santacroce, 24, has also had limited first-team opportunities this season with Napoli. Lecce are in negotiations to bring him to the club too.
The player’s agent Claudio Pasqualin confirmed: “The negotiations for Santacroce’s proposed move to Lecce are going well.”
