Leonardo praises players after Napoli victory

Leonardo sat on the Nerazzurri bench rather than the Rossoneri’s last night as he began his tenure with a 3-1 victory over a Napoli.
Leonardo changed the set up for the match, employing a 4-3-1-2 formation; this differed from the now familiar 4-2-3-1 used by his predecessor.
The night could not have got off to a better start for Leonardo, as his countryman Thiago Motta scored after two minutes. Michele Pazienza then took advantage of some slack defending to equalise before Esteban Cambiasso helped Inter back into the lead before half time. The second half saw Thiago Motta grab his second of the match with a superb header on 55 minutes, this proved to be the winning goal.
The stylish Inter Coach echoed memories of Jose Mourinho at times as it was appeared that his players had automatically taken to him well.
After the game he gave credit to his men, saying that “This victory was entirely down to the hunger of these players, I don’t want to seem like I’m laying it on thick, but everyone in this squad has been at my absolute disposal from the second I arrived. I was touched by their extraordinary humility and spirit of sacrifice in training. It’s really amazing.”
Leonardo was also quick to acknowledge that Inter looked stretched at times defensively and that climbing back up the table would be tough. He also called for people to stop comparing the side with that of 2010 and instead said he wanted the players to have fun playing football once again.
