Maccarone nears Bologna switch

Transfer-listed Massimo Maccarone is close to joining Bologna, according to a report by Tuttosport.
The 31-year-old has only been with Palermo for six months, but the move has clearly not worked out for either party and the former Middlesbrough centre forward has been told he is now up for sale.
“I would have liked to have respected my contract with Palermo, but the club has informed me of their intention to sell,” said Maccarone.
“Obviously I don’t like the situation that has been created because there are no problems at Palermo with the Coach nor with my teammates.
“As long as I have the opportunity to stay here, I will work with the same commitment as always.
“It takes two people to make a marriage in football. Often it’s not your fault if it gets interrupted.
“Being a nice guy in football counts for little, but I am used to these situations.
“There are many clubs that want me, clubs that have shown confidence in me and I will make a definitive decision shortly.”

The report claims that Bologna is the likeliest destination for Maccarone, with Coach Alberto Malesani eager to lift some of the goalscoring burden currently placed upon the shoulders of Marco Di Vaio. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
