Maccarone turns down Cesena

Palermo’s transfer listed centre forward Massimo Maccarone has turned down the opportunity to link up with Cesena, according to a report by Tuttosport.
The 31-year-old striker has been told by Palermo that he can leave the club, having only joined the Rosanero from Siena during the summer.
Maccarone’s availability has sparked country-wide interest from a number of clubs, with Serie A strugglers Cesena one of the first to have made their interest concrete.
However, the former Empoli and Middlesbrough frontman is thought to not be keen on a switch to the Northern Italian based club and his hopes pinned on a move to the likes of Fiorentina, Sampdoria or Chievo.
Discussing a potential deal, the player’s agent Paolo Fabbri said: “By Friday we’ll have been in contact with various directors of sport and we’ll consider the offers.
“For now Palermo rule out the player leaving on loan, so what remains is part ownership or an outright sale.
“The player wants to stay in Italy and he has asked me to find a club of equal stature to Palermo.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
