Man City to make record bid for Napoli striker

Napoli’s Edinson Cavani will be the subject of an £85 million bid from Manchester City in the summer which would make him the most expensive player of all time, according to the Daily Mail.
The Uruguayan striker has notched 20 goals so far this season in Serie A, propelling Napoli to the unexpected heights of second place. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by the richest club in the world.
City were allegedly keen to buy Cavani in January but Napoli’s reluctance to lose their star man in the middle of the season meant that the Premier League club shelled out £27m on Edin Dzeko instead.
Should Napoli receive the colossal bid, it would probably make Cavani the costliest player ever. Cristiano Ronaldo cost Real Madrid £80m from Manchester United but City are reportedly willing to pay even more.
The 24-year-old is technically only on loan to Napoli from Palermo, however an agreement has already been struck for the Partenopei to buy him outright in the summer for €17m. Should City – or anybody else – enter the equation to sign Cavani, it remains to be seen how a deal would be structured.
Napoli take on leaders Milan on Monday night, giving Cavani another high-profile chance to impress. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
