Mancini defends Balotelli behaviour

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has once again had to stick up for Mario Balotelli after the temperamental striker reacted badly to being substituted at the weekend.
The Italy international had delivered a lethargic performance against Notts County in the FA Cup before accidentally colliding heads with an opponent. Mancini responded by bringing him off, but Balotelli stormed down the tunnel and threw his snood to the ground.
But, Mancini has insisted that Balotelli was never going to complete the 90 minutes, as it was the player’s first start in nearly two months after a knee injury.
The former Inter coach said: “We decided before the game to replace him after an hour. It’s his first start after injury and he had a clash of heads. He was unhappy but I will explain to him in a couple of days.
“It’s not a problem. We want him fit for the next two months as we have a lot of games. He played well and didn’t have any problems with his knee.
“We want to ease Mario back into action. He knew he would not play the full game. Sometimes in training when he misses a chance he holds his knee and then when he scores he doesn’t!”

Balotelli has regularly been criticised for his attitude since moving to City last summer in a £24 million deal from Inter. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
