Marchetti could go to Man City

The future of Cagliari’s rebellious goalkeeper Federico Marchetti has taken another turn as Manchester City have revealed a surprise interest.
City are considering loaning their second-choice keeper Shay Given out, and if they can find him a suitable club then they will need a challenger to Joe Hart’s number one shirt. Marchetti has emerged as a loan target.
The 27-year-old hasn’t played a single game all season after his falling out with the Cagliari hierarchy last summer led to his exclusion. Marchetti was seemingly on the verge of a transfer to Genoa earlier in the January transfer window but talks broke down.
His future will first depend on any interested parties tabling a bid for Given. If he leaves City then Marchetti is their ideal target to replace him, but if Given doesn’t leave before tonight’s deadline then the club have no need for three keepers.
The 6pm deadline for transfers in Italy would not apply if Marchetti went to City, where he would have to be signed up by England’s 11pm deadline. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
