Marino happy with Genoa squad

New Genoa Coach Pasquale Marino has indicated he is pleased with the squad at his disposal and especially new signing Alberto Gilardino.
Marino was drafted in following the 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Napoli just before Christmas, a result which cost Alberto Malesani his job.
Marino told Radio Sportiva he was not expecting to receive a call from Genoa President Enrico Preziosi: “It was an unexpected call, even if I was thinking of returning in 2012.”
The new tactician just wants to concentrate on his first match in charge, rather than look further ahead.
“I am happy because Genoa has an excellent squad and the club has an exceptional enthusiasm. I will not talk of objectives and only want to think about the match with Cagliari. We are in a calm position so we can aim with a clear mind to do our best.
“I have been handed an excellent striker in Gilardino. I am satisfied, but have not yet spoken to him.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
