Maxi Lopez staying at Catania

Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco has dismissed any reports that the club’s start striker Maxi Lopez is set to leave Sicily in January.
The Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that Il Elefanti’s transfer supremo reacted angrily to journalists about a proposed move to Turin to join Juventus in the New Year. Lo Monaco stated that: “nothing exists between the two clubs, Maxi Lopez remains a Catania player until June and that is that”.
He continued his tirade by explaining that: “no clubs are thinking of transfers at this moment, every day you reporters invent something new”.
There was bad news for the Argentine striker today when he was banned for one game following his fourth yellow card picked up in Genoa last Sunday. He will miss this weekend’s visit of Fiorentina to the Angelo Massimino.
