Mazzarri: “A Perfect Napoli”

Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri was overjoyed with his team’s last gasp winner against Palermo which saw the Partenopei join Juventus in third spot. Cristian Maggio’s 95th minute strike gave Mazzarri’s team all three points in a game they largely dominated.
“It was a great performance from the team. Yes, I can probably say that we were even perfect. We tried everything and created many opportunities, but Palermo were very good in defense.”
The Sicilians had goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu to thank for saving them from going behind on multiple occasions. The recently drafted Nazionale player looked to have earned his side a draw before Maggio struck in injury time.
“It would have been a shame had we not won”, said Mazzarri. “The way we played we deserved the win. We did not concede anything to Palermo and we could have even scored five ourselves.”
The former Sampdoria manager reserved special praise for Maggio: “He is one of the most talented guys I have managed. We have given him confidence because he deserves it and the results are there for all to see.”
The Azzurri are enjoying a bright start to their season and are in joint third place with the Bianconeri on 27 points. However, Mazzarri is not looking too far into the future at the moment: “We do not look at the standings, we try to honour every game. Against Udinese, it did not go well, but today we showed we can recover.”
Napoli are scheduled to take on Genoa next but if the proposed players’ strike goes ahead, there may be no Serie A action this weekend. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
